How Do I Adopt a Dog from The Shelter Dog Rescue Project? Are you looking for a canine pal? We've just placed a wonderful group of dogs in foster homes and are looking for permanent adoptive homes. The dogs will be ready to head home with their new adoptive families in late May. We have updated descriptions and pictures of the dogs in the program this quarter available on our Current Adoptions page. Please check back often (we'll usually update the page each weekend) for new pictures and stories about our dogs. Our goal is to place these dogs in loving, permanent homes. By the end of the program, they will have completed a 6-8 week training program, have been vaccinated, spayed/neutered, wormed, and treated for any medical problems. Prospective adoptive families are encouraged to attend our weekly training sessions held on the UC Davis campus (click here for directions). Please contact one of our adoption coordinators (see below) in advance for an appointment. The dogs in the Spring 2002program will be available to go to their new adoptive homes in late May, but adoptions can be finalized in advance of that date. We ask for a $100 adoption fee
in order to cover some of the costs of the program. We're a completely
student-run organization, and we count on the support of adoptive families
as well as several fundraising events and donations from the public
to cover the expenses of caring for our pups. Prospective adoptive
families must complete and Adoption
Application. In order to finalize the adoption, an Adoption
Contract must be signed before the family takes home one of our
graduates. For more information about one of our dogs, directions to the training sessions, or any other questions you may have, please contact us via email at shelterdog@ucdavis.edu, or call 530-792-6177. We've also heard about a few other dogs who aren't part of our program but are looking for homes. Please see our Other Adoptions Page for more information. |
