September 10 , 2002: NEW DOGS AVAILABLE IN OCTOBER!! Our fall session is just gearing up with seven generous foster families opening up their homes to some very lucky dogs. Look for pictures of the dogs in our program starting in October.
September 10 , 2002: SUMMER SESSION WRAP-UP: This summer we placed three shelter dogs into new homes: Sophie, Nikki and Willow (now renamed Jewels). We'd like to thank Midtown Veterinary Hospital here in Davis, CA for their help with Jewels. She needed a tooth extracted because of an abscess, but was otherwise healthy. It is this kind of help from community members that allows us to succeed in finding permanent homes for shelter dogs. Thank you Midtown!

September 10 , 2002: DOXIE DERBY SUCCESS! On September 1, Shelter Dog Rescue Project benefited from the Dachshund Derby at the California State Fair for the second year in a row. Students from the vet school sold 'Weiner Wagers' for the event which included four preliminary races and a final race for the community's most athletic Doxies. Bidders received a ribbon that said "I picked a Weiner!" if they were lucky enough to choose the winning dog. The event helped our project to raise money for supplies and medical care for our shelter dogs. Thank you Doxie Derby!
September 10 , 2002: NEXT SESSION STARTS IN JANUARY: If you missed our program this Fall, but would like to foster in the future, the date of our next orientation meeting will be Thursday, January 2, 2003. We hope to see you there!
August 6 , 2002: FOSTER FAMILIES NEEDED!! We are already thinking about gearing up for our next session in the fall. In order for us to have another successful session, we need foster families to care for and love the shelter dogs. Being a foster family is a great opportunity to see if you would like a dog in your life. If you are interested, check out the Foster page and send us an email at shelterdog@ucdavis.edu.
August 6 , 2002: SUMMER 2002 SESSION! Our summer session is in full swing with three lucky dogs having a great time in their new foster homes. One of our dogs has already been placed permanently with her foster family, but there are two more lovable dogs waiting for their chance!
June 3 , 2002: SPRING 2002 SESSION COMES TO A CLOSE! A big thanks to everyone who helped to make the spring session of Shelter Dog Rescue Project a success. We placed 7 great dogs into wonderful homes this session! A special thanks goes to our anonymous donor who donated money to sponsor two dogs plus some additional funds for supplies and medications. Thank you once again for your support! If you are looking for a dog to adopt, don't despair. We will have a summer session starting soon.
